The table was filthy and had not been cleaned off from the prior guests. We arrived about 15 minutes prior to the movie starting. Recently I noticed a decline in the service and value and my last visit was awful. I have contacted them in several ways regarding this and have not heard anything back. How about better service for those who pay rather than accommodating those who don’t! That is not what I pay for! I visit the ipic at least once a month but not sure I will be returning. Ipic - I do not expect to have to move people out of my premium seat and have the blanket etc. staff are clearly in on letting friends know when there is an empty seat they can get for free. How did a manager know as we did not alert anyone else. The people sitting in the seats admitted to us they had no tickets. Further to that point, on my last visit where this happened I had a “manager” come and apologise for a mix up on seats. I have ore booked and paid for seats and employees are not checking. Both times an excuse was quickly made and a swift exit done by those sitting in the seats. So on 2 occasions now I have gone to the ipic in Houston and found people sitting in our premier seats. Do not waste your money! I have attached a picture of the broken urinals in the men's room that have been that way for a week with trash bags covering them up to give you a visual of the piss poor service you can expect. I am never going back to iPics Houston and will never recommend them to anyone. He never apologized or took ownership of the valid customer service issues that we and other members have been having since they opened. We escalated our poor treatment to the Regional Director and were given nothing but lip service. The GM has instructed her staff, who she treats horribly and are so afraid of her that they will not report her to their own employee hotline, to never give us anything free as Platinum members. I have never been thanked for my loyalty and have been ignored by the GM who refers to my partner and I as whinny cry babies. As one of only 4 Platinum members in Houston who has purchased 130 tickets in 11 months and spent hundreds of dollars on food and beverages. Since last year I have been surprisingly disappointed in the lack of customer service. I do think this would be a fun date night for new couples. Overall it’s a fresh idea and nice theater - just wish information was a little easier to come by. We figured if we go back we’d eat elsewhere and just stick to the standard fare of popcorn. The food was fine, not great, but its a movie theater not a restaurant. The seats are designed by groups of two so it was challenging to communicate w the kiddos (13 & 14)and the waiter was not attentive towards them. The waiter had no clue what I was talking about and then I felt dumb for asking. We had been told the premium plus seats also came with free popcorn. Nowhere on the website could I find any explanation for the additional fee. Then the email sent to you has no mention of price or fees. But when I went to pay, the balance jumped to $75 with no explanation. When I ordered tickets online it was $20 per adult and $11 for kids. The surrounding area is beautiful and great for walking/hanging out.īut there were a few things that we didn’t love. As part of the filmmaking program in the Visual and Dramatic Arts it brings the communities of Rice and the city of Houston together over the most significant form of storytelling in the modern world. The theater is upscale and unique. Rice Cinema has the ability to screen almost any film ever made, from early silent cinema to contemporary world digital cinema, including 16mm and 35mm film formats. Among the many filmmakers that have come through our doors are Andy Warhol, Jean Luc Godard, Dennis Hopper, Richard Lester, Sam Peckinpah, Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, Fernando Solanas, Shirin Neshat, Patricio Guzman, Arturo Ripstein, Albert Maysles, and many others. Rice Cinema regularly shows documentaries, foreign films, and experimental cinema and has brought filmmakers from all parts of the world to present their work. This program emerges from the spirit of artists and teachers like James Blue, Roberto Rossellini, and Colin Young who saw cinema as a subject of conversation and part of a community, rather than a commodity to be consumed. As defined by its founders, Jean and Dominique de Menil, it is a cinemateque experience for both the screening of great films and the opportunity to discuss these works. 2023 Spring Visiting Artist Lecture Seriesįor half a century, Rice Cinema has maintained an international reputation as an important cultural center in Houston, Texas.Rice Cinema Ticket Information, Parking & Directions.Rice Cinema COVID-19 Coronavirus Information.Film and Photography Degree Requirements.Distinction in Research and Creative Works.Department Awards, Scholarships, and Fellowships.
